From Chris Baer in the USA -- A Day in the Life: After-School Activities. What do you do after-school? CONNECTING MATH TO OUR LIVES THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY. A new activity in the Connecting Math to Our Lives project to share images, collages, drawings, and photographs related to math. The activity was proposed by a class in Kenya, and a class in UAE has recently joined. Interested? RESOURCES, CONTESTS, WEBSITES, ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------------------------------------------------------ 4. CALL FOR ENTRIES: THE 2009 MY HERO SHORT FILM FESTIVAL. The deadline for submissions is June 1st, 2009, for short films (ten minutes and under) that celebrate heroes from around the world. MY HERO is also proud to announce two special awards: The Ron Kovic Peacemaker Award, for the film that best addresses the issue of peace; and the Dan Eldon Activist Award, for the film which addresses the theme of activism. http://myhero.com/filmfestival Please note! MY HERO will waive entry fees for all iEARN submissions. 5. "DON'T GIVE IT ALL AWAY" FILM RECEIVES RECOGNITION. This short film by Slater Jewell-Kemker (her presentation for the Youth Summit for the Environment in Kobe, Japan) is spreading the Youth Environmental message at International Film Festivals. It won the Music Category at the My Hero Film Festival, was featured in Finland at the Videotivoli Film Festivaland has become a finalist at the Toronto International Film Festival - Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers Showcase next month. ELLUMINATE ONLINE CONFERENCING PLATFORM AVAILABLE FOR iEARN CLASSES. An MOU agreement with iEARN will make 2 VClasses available to support communication and educational programs as well as special events for the iEARN network. Each VClass can accommodate 25 users. The VClasses will be available until 15/02/2010. Moderators of sessions will be required to to attend free, public training sessions hosted by Elluminate. For more information, contact

Educators - any media posted to the Collaboration Centre can be kept password-protected within the iEARN network, or marked public ("Allow anyone in the world to view item"). If you would like to make media previously posted to the Gallery public, simply go to that item in the Gallery and click the "Edit" button to access the public/private permission options.
